My Karibu Story
I went to Kenya — Nairobi, then Watamu — for two weeks on a work trip. I left already planning my return.
Six months later, I was back. This time with my whole life packed into two 23-kilo suitcases.
I got to live Kenya as both a local and a tourist. I walked to the supermarket. I rode boda bodas through Nairobi traffic. I ate more chapati, pilau, and mandazi than I could count, and nursed a cold with a dawa — learning along the way that it's also a very good cocktail.
I watched some of the best sunsets I've ever seen fall over the ocean in Watamu, and walked on white sand that seemed to stretch on forever in Diani. I wandered through tea farms so green they didn't look real. Almost every week, I found something new to fall for.
Then one afternoon, a couple I barely knew opened their home to me for lunch. At their door, they greeted me with a single word:
"Karibu."Welcome.
That's the moment this company was born. It started with wanting my loved ones to feel that same welcome — not just to see Kenya, but to be let into it.
